We moved into our first home in June 2010. It was a foreclosure home with good bones, but needed some updating to fit our style. It's been a slow process, but we're evolving.

Don't Worry, All the stickers, papers, etc. Were removed. We did all the repairs listed on the inspection before move in and fortunately for us, there was nothing terribly major. In fact, the appliances in the kitchen were fairly new. They had also remodeled the Master Bath recently, although it is not to my liking.
Clearly, you can see the house is dated.
One of the big things that we couldn't do at time of purchase was replace carpet. Oh how I wish we could have! We had it professionally cleaned so it was spotless, but 2 years and 2 kids later, the Berber is unraveling everywhere and shows major signs of wear. I hate it. Hate it. Now that we have all of our stuff in here, it'll be a while before J will want to bite off moving it to replace it. We will get there.
Now:
WARNING: You won't find pictures here that look like they come from Better Homes & Garden. I am the DIY-er in this house. I learn from trial and error and work on a SAHM budget. I love thrift store finds, eclectic mixes of colors and our square footage is really too small for the size of our furniture and the amount of stuff we have in it. I work with what I have, what I can recycle and repurpose, and you will rarely find a piece that was purchased to function as intended. I envy bloggers such as IHeart Organizing and Life as a Thrifter, but my home does not resemble their beauty. Still, it manages to work for us day by day.
